Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his initial championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid year, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
His varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and finally splitting with long-term mentor his previous coach.
Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Moutet.
This represents his initial title after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court since March of 2023.
Success also means Medvedev has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one various tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my children together, so to get a trophy is particularly special," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his last six finals, including in the German tournament previously this season.
Medvedev's defensive play style and frequent outbursts on court had prompted commentators to doubt if his capacity to perform at the elite level was finished.
But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to approach the net and perform positively, supported by an better serve.
Medvedev came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.
The pair swapped service breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.
Moutet defended four early-game break points in a competitive final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
